Deliberation

This part of the project brings the conducted research closer to Swiss citizens by kick-starting a discussion on how a desirable Swiss food system should look like. Through citizen deliberation we will discuss the key findings of the project, resulting from the other research strands, with groups of Swiss citizens. the deliberative process allows to build consensus towards a vision of a sustainable food system and to develop policy recommendations based on this vision. By doing this, the project will support new dialogues between science, society and policy to navigate the unavoidable ethical and political trade-offs involved in any transformation to a sustainable food future. The project explicitly adopts an inclusive, participatory and democratic approach to ensure relevance, legitimacy and effectiveness of the policy recommendations.

The citizen deliberation will be developed by the researchers of the project in collaboration with an artist collective (Goldproduktionen). An exhibition devoted to the process and its findings will make the deliberative experience accessible to a broader public.
